Max's Favorite Things to Do

Max is at the cutest age right now.  This time between ages 1 and 2 has always been Kelsey's and my favorite time with our kids.  It is just so fun!  They are developing their personality, interacting with others, starting to have a sense of humor, and learning lots of tricks!  Right now at 20 months, Max is hilarious.  He makes all of us laugh everyday, and he loves it.  He's a sweet little man and I wish I could freeze him at this age and keep him like this forever.

Here is a little collection of the things that Max does that makes him so amazing right now.

He is a total camera hog.  As soon as he sees me grab the camera, he comes running over with this silly forced smile on his face and says, "Cheeeeeeese!  Cheeeeeeese!"  He really reminds us a lot of Stella who did the exact same thing when she was little.  And, of course, he has to see the picture as soon as I take it.  He loves to see himself.

Max, like his brother and sister, loves to do art.  Right now, his favorite thing to use is markers.  He could color all day if I let him and he really fills up the entire sheet of paper using all sorts of colors.  He still has a little trouble putting the caps back on the markers when he is done.  Do you know what one of the scariest things is?  Having a toddler come running at you full speed with an un-capped marker pointed right at your white shirt.  Terrifying.  And, it happens to me hundreds of times each day.

Max has recently learned how to jump, and now he's like a little jumping bean bouncing all around the house.  Most times, his feet don't even leave the ground, but he's pretty proud of himself nonetheless.

Bathtime is Max's most favorite time of all.  He could be in the middle of doing something really fun, and all we have to do is say, "bath," and he is off running to the bathroom tugging on his clothes.  He is so happy in the water and loves playing with his toys and going underwater.  He could stay in there all day.

Max has turned into quite the copycat recently.  He loves to do whatever Stella and Colby are doing.... at least he tries to do whatever they are doing.  The other night, he was attempting handstands just like them.  It was really funny to watch.  Max especially likes to shadow Colby and he follows him around all day.  Colby has some crazy dance moves now, and lately I have seen Max doing the same moves.  Yikes.

Max has really enjoyed sledding this winter.  We haven't had much snow this year, but when we do, we take advantage of the big hill in our front yard.  He wasn't too sure about his first couple of runs down the hill, but now he is a pro.
And, when there is no snow, Max still likes to go down the big hill.... on his bike.  It gives Mommy a heart attack each time, but it makes him so happy.

Max has become quite the chef.  Whether he's baking some wonderful play dough treat, or helping me with my latest cooking project, he really enjoys it.  He is the first one to come running to the kitchen when I announce I'm going to be baking something.  He has become much better at pouring in the ingredients too, which helps me a lot.

Max loves putting things over his head.  This picture was taken last night when he discovered how cool this box was.  This box was great because it had a window in it so he could at least see where he was going.  Most of the time, he's got a big solid box or bucket over his head and goes wondering around the house, crashing into walls and furniture.  He thinks it's a riot.

Stella and Colby taught Max how to tell knock-knock jokes.  They are by far the funniest ones I have ever heard and, as you can see from this video, Max thinks they're pretty funny too.

There are millions of other things that Max loves to do, such as lining up his cars and trucks in a very methodical fashion or running down the hallway to give Daddy a "super hug" each morning.  It's so fun watching him.
He's a special little guy.
